Operating System
We offer two types of operating systems with our
hosting plans:
Windows 2000
RedHat Linux
Payment Frequency
You can pay for your new hosting either monthly
or yearly. If you choose the yearly option you will
get 12 months hosting for the price of 10.
Account
Password
You will need a password to access your accounts
control panel to administer your hosting & e-mail
etc. When ordering enter a password you can easily
remember, use only letters and numbers (please do
not use other characters such as #, &, % etc.) make
sure to write down your password and keep it in
a safe place.
Domain
Name Pointers
Pointing www.myshop.com to the exact same website
as www.mystore.com - this costs a once-off €7.00
setup for each pointer - of course you must own
the domain or have us register it for you. When
ordering please list each pointer required on a
separate line.
(e.g.
www.myshop.com
www.mystore.com
www.abbeyit.net).
SubDomains
Subdomains are setup as a directory inside your
account and cost a once-off €7.00
setup for each subdomain. You can only do this if
you have a fully qualified domain (e.g. www.yourname.com).
When ordering please list each subdomain required
on a separate line.
(E.g.
help
support
design)
these would give the following subdomains for the
domain www.yourname.com:
help.yourname.com, support.yourname.com and design.yourname.com.
Extra Bandwidth
Up to 2GB of bandwidth is provided free of charge
per month (this is data transferred from your site),
beyond this the cost is €9.00
per 1GB for each month over the 2GB limit.
Search Engine Submission
Submitting your site to search engines is extremely
important in the marketing of your website.
We offer a service where your site is submitted
to over 500,000 sites (search engines and links
pages). The database of engines is constantly maintained.
In a typical 6 month period, over 90% of the database
is completely recycled!
Our software can correctly submit to many complex
search engines, including Yahoo, Snap/NBCi, HotBot,
AOLSearch, DMOZ(Open Directory), and many others.
All the majors... and the less significant engines
as well! While it is true that over 90% of the traffic
comes from a few major search engines, the other
10% comes from thousands less significant sites.
We submit to those majors... and the small ones,
too!
We submit your site monthly for an entire year.
Reports are e-mailed to you. This service is only
€70.00 per year.
100mb Disk Space
100mb of disk space is far more than enough for
most internet websites. This entire site doesn't
even use 1MB. 100mb is enough for thousands of web
pages.
Unlimited POP3 Mail
Accounts
This gives you as many POP3 e-mail accounts as you
need. POP3 e-mail accounts are checked using the
most commonly used e-mail clients such as Outlook
Express. We do not support giving away free e-mail
accounts from your website, if you wish to have
a feature such as this please consider coupling
our hosting plans with the free e-mail services
of everyone.net.
Your own domain
Securing your own domain is very important, particularly
as the Internet is growing and your domain is essentially
your global identity on the Internet We offer domain
registration services as well as hosting services.
All our hosting plans support your own domain (e.g.
you.com)
Unlimited E-mail Forwarding
E-mail forwarding allows you to specify when an
e-mail is sent to username@yourdomain.com you can
automatically forward this to multiple recipients
(e.g. you may wish to forward it to the e-mail address
given to you by your ISP).
Free Technical Support
AbbeyIT.net offers free technical support with all
it's plans. Simply e-mail support@abbeyit.net with
any queries you may have and we will be happy to
answer them. The first point of call for all support
questions however should be http://www.abbeyit.net/fqa.asp,
if your question has been asked previously it is
most likely answered at this site.
Unlimited E-mail Autoresponders
Each e-mail address you setup may have an autoresponder
(this means when someone sends you an e-mail the
mail server automatically replies with a message
you have setup to let the sender know you have received
the message).
Your own CGI-BIN
On Win2000 CGI/Perl scripts will run from anywhere
(they don't need to be in a specific cgi-bin directory).
We have ActiveState Perl 5.6 installed on all our
Win2000 servers.
Frontpage Support
Frontpage 98 through to 2002 is supported. If you
use Frontpage to design and publish your site you
can be assured that our Win2000 servers support
the Frontpage features. You will have access to
modify your site 24-7 without any intervention from
us, you can publish from Frontpage to your live
site at any time.
24-7 FTP Access
FTP Access is given 24-7, this means that any time
you wish to modify your site via FTP it's simply
a matter of logging on and uploading your files
to the live server.
Pre-installed Counter
Script
We provide a pre-installed counter which you can
place on any of your pages to count the number of
hits that page has received.
Mail Control Panel
We provide a control panel specifically for setting
up your e-mail accounts and managing e-mail forwarding,
autoresponders, e-mail passwords etc.
Perl 5
On Win2000 CGI/Perl scripts will run from anywhere
(they don't need to be in a specific cgi-bin directory).
We have ActiveState Perl 5.6 installed on all our
Win2000 servers.
Pre-installed Form
Mail Script
We provide a pre-installed form mail script which
allows you to send e-mail from your website to your
visitors.
Secure Server Directory
Every account at AbbeyIT.net receives access to
a directory on our secure server. This is on an
NT4 machine and allows clients to have secure forms
etc.
2GB Bandwidth
Each account receives 2GB of bandwidth at no extra
cost. Bandwidth counted is the amount of data transferred
from your site to your visitors. This is equivalent
to approx. 800 visitors a day to your site (depending
on the size of graphics or downloadable files etc.).
Beyond this the cost is €9.00
per extra GB. Most sites do not get anywhere near
2GB per month.
ODBC Databases
Support is given on the Win2000 platform for Access,
DBase and Foxpro databases. We recommend using a
DSN-less connection as they are more secure, however,
if you wish to use a DSN we give you the option
of creating a DSN in the control panel.
Active Server Pages
(ASP)
ASP is supported on all our Win2000 servers. ASP
files will run automatically.
Statistics
We provide detailed statistics for your site including
referrers, hits, sessions, bandwidth and more.
Our Custom Control
Panel
Our custom control panel can be used to change permissions
on files in Win2000 (as CHMOD is only supported
on UNIX machines), setup e-mail, view statistics,
order pointers or subdomains, view disk space and
more.
Jmail, Sendmail, ASPMail,
ASPEmail and Blat
Jmail, Sendmail, ASPMail, ASPEmail and Blat are
all supported on our Win2000 servers. They are all
different ways of sending e-mail from your site
to your visitors. See the FQA site for details on
how to use these features.
Microsoft SQL Server

SQL Server 7 is an optional extra. If you need a
professional database solution for your site SQL
is available at an extra cost paid yearly:
- Plan 1 (€120.00):
Database - 25MB Disk space, Logs - 13MB Disk space
- Plan 2 (€170.00):
Database - 50MB Disk space, Logs - 25MB Disk space
- Plan 3 (€270.00):
Database - 100MB Disk space, Logs - 50MB Disk

Java Server Pages
JSP support is given on all Win2000 plans. This
enables you to run JSP pages. You do need to enable
this through our control panel. Java Servlets will
also run, see the support site for details.
CDO for NTS (CDONTS)
CDONTS is another method of emailing someone from
your website through ASP pages. All our Win2000
servers support CDONTS.
Windows 2000 Server
Windows 2000 Server is fast becoming one of the
most widely used server platforms for small business.
It's native support of ASP and the ability to use
Access databases makes it one of the most easily
used platforms.
Web Based E-mail
Our mail server runs web based e-mail, this means
you can check or send e-mail through any Internet
browser (e.g. Internet Explorer or Netscape).
ASP.NET
ASP.NET is the latest in ASP technology, specifically
designed to be far faster and more stable than current
the ASP engine. Visit http://www.asp.net for more
